About the Event
Our follow up discussion on Doughnut Economics will be on Wednesday 19th May from 7.30pm to 9.00pm. Last time there was a lot of input – which was great! – but this time we want to have more participation. We are going to run it as an Open Space session which means you who are coming decide what themes from the book we pick up. You might also like to look at what selected ideas mean for taking action.
If you would like to come, then please send an email to me with a sentence or two about your particular interest. Please do this by Monday 17th May. Then we will look at all the responses and cluster them into groups, so that when we meet, we will divide people into breakout rooms to discuss the areas you are most interested in. You don’t have to have been to the first session to come to this one, or to have read the whole book, but to be familiar with the themes of the book would obviously help.
Some of the areas you might like to discuss (drawing on chapters from the book) include Nurturing Human Nature, Economic Growth and GDP, Tackling the Tax System, Regenerative Design. But don’t be limited by them! Send your ideas to noel.sharp@btinternet.com If you don’t get round to doing this, then still come to the session and you can choose which breakout room you join on the night.
Here is the timetable for the evening
7.30pm Welcome and introduction
7.40pm Divide into breakout rooms for themed discussions
8.20pm Plenary feedback of main ideas from the breakout rooms
8.50pm Second short breakout rooms to share ‘what has energised me and what I will do next?’
9.00pm End
